YOUNGSTOWN OHIO ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS
August 16, 2016My assistant and I had a great time shooting these Youngstown, Ohio engagement photos at Mill Creek Park in the Fellows Riverside Gardens. This couple brought their two dogs along and we got some great shots with them near the front entrance island garden. Mill Creek has picturesque gardens, gazebos and landscaping throughout including an island area with roses and other blooming flowers. These two golden retrievers were wonderful to work with!
Moving along we spotted a long narrow field called the “Long Mall” with light leaks shining through the right side of the tree canopy. I used two cameras in this area with Nikon’s superb 70-200 F.28 zoom in order to get beautiful lens compression and shallow depth of field on the subjects. The long emerald green background really brought out the summer tones and provided the perfect backdrop for fun shots.
Next we went to the main gazebo for casual shots. I had my assistant use a translucent diffusion sheet in order to utilize as much natural light as possible. The gazebo provides a few interesting spots to mix things up with different sitting poses and detail shots.
At the north terrace they have a stone wall with a dramatic view of Youngstown, Ohio in the background. It was the perfect time of day with the sun at a low angle shining highlights and flaring the camera as the couple kissed in dramatic scenes.
As the sun set the couple changed from casual dress to formal attire for the rose garden shots. These images turned out amazing with a great contrast of colors between the roses and the color of their clothes. This setting is perfectly suited for romantic poses and formal attire. We finished the shoot at the quarry garden with Lake Glacier in the background. Before leaving we noticed some amazing wood frame arbors nearby perfectly suited for late evening portraits.
Michele and Josh are getting married May 2017 at Saint Maron Church in Youngstown Ohio. Check out our wedding photography and portfolio pages for more images from this engagement shoot.
